DEAR RESIDENT
Once again a big thank you for continuing to support our NHW. We now have 149 households as members. This is slightly down from last year, mainly due to people moving out of the area. We have recently completed a mail drop to non-members, and are hoping to recruit more households. Crime in our area has greatly reduced since the start of 2020. This is due to the vigilance of our NHW members, Allsoundand SAPs.
COVID-19
Our President has announced a total lockdown in South Africa. Please acquaint yourselves with the rules and we ask all residents to passionately follow the national guidelines on social distancing and hygiene. As a NHW, we are not defined as an essential security organization. Therefore, we are not allowed to have NHW patrols. Please be extra vigilant during these times and review your personal and home security. Let us help the country eradicate this virus and not let criminals take advantage of the situation.
CAMERAS
We still have 14 cameras, helping to keep us safe. The majority are equipped with the new deep alert software. This has proved to be very effective in identifying potential criminals and reducing false alarms. With the new lockdown restrictions, we rely even more on our camera system. Thank goodness we made the decision to invest in it.
FUNDING
For 2020, there is no Municipality funding. We will rely totally on members’ voluntary contributions. Please encourage friends and neighbours to join us.
We would like a camera at the junction of Rexford Road/Wilson Street and will revisit the possibility of one at the Hunters Drive/Howard Street/Lindsay Street Junction. This has always been a prime location but is technically challenging due to signal line of sight issues. Any technical solution could be very expensive.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
Our meeting with Fisherhaven residents, our proposed Public Meeting and our regular committee meetings have been postponed indefinitely.
PLEASE KEEP SAFE DURING THESE DIFFICULT TIMES AND FOLLOW THE HRF MEMBERS CRIMEWATCH GROUP FOR REAL-TIME CRIME INFORMATION
