HRF NHW NEWSLETTER DEC 2018

  • by

December 2018

Another year has slipped by, but thankfully, with a great improvement in crime reduction in our area We look forward to the New Year with a great deal of optimism in keeping it that way

This reduction is no accident. It has come about by the full co-operation of everyone in the area making a positive contribution in different ways whether by patrolling or contributing financially to the erection of the CCTV cameras at variously strategically placed locations

With the help of the municipality, we have erected 10 cameras. However, without the residents making a small contribution of only R520 per year (less than R1,50 per day) we cannot afford to have them monitored 24/7. That will be the ideal scenario and we look forward to all who can afford it, making their contribution so that the burden of reclaiming our neighbourhood from the criminals is not left to the minority

With the holidays upon us, and our town is filled with welcome visitors, we feel it timeous just to remind you and your guests of some basics to observe to make it more difficult for the opportunistic criminal who may be lurking with intent

1 Don’t leave valuables in your cars

2 When leaving your home, even for a short period, ensure that the alarm is on

3 Don’t leave valuables within sight of, or easy to reach windows in your home. Cell phones and laptops are always prime targets

4 When leaving or entering your property, make sure that no one follows you in through your remotely controlled gate or garage door

5  If you do see anyone who looks remotely suspicious, please call Allsound at once on 0443825589 and please post your sighting on the HRF Crime WhatsApp  group

6 Your loyal domestic servant or your gardener are prime targets if they walk home via one of the bushy paths to their residential areas. Please give them pepper spray for protection.

Your committee has resolved that until we get a special rating where everyone will make a contribution to the maintenance and monitoring of the cameras, each person who voluntarily makes a contribution will receive the following benefits namely:

1 Being a member of ta Members Only Crime Whatsapp group with controlled usage

2 Real-Time detailed crime information via the Whatsapp group

3  Proactive crime prevention using cameras with Smart recognition software and in future possibly linked to your alarm

4 Crime prevention advice

5 Access to camera recordings after an incident

6  Regular meetings with Allsound and Saps particularly when the crime rate is high

Your committee, Allsound, SAPS and the CPF will use this group only from the 1st January 2019. The current Crime Whatsapp group will continue until the 31st January 2019 after which it will be discontinued

If you have any questions in respect hereof, please contact Rob Jackson on Robjackk@aol.com or Richard Thorpe on solutions@icon.co.za

Payments of your contributions can be made to

We look forward to a crime-free year which can be achieved if we all work together to achieve this end. Let us not leave this to the usual few. Become a meaningful part of your community so that your neighbourhood is safe, and a place of which you can be proud
