Dear Residents
We would like to thank all our residents for supporting our fight against crime. We hope you are coping successfully with the pandemic regulations and staying safe and well.
RELEASE ON PAROLE OF LOCAL CRIMINALS.
After many years of hard work to bring down crime in our area, we were extremely disappointed to see a large number of local regular criminals released on parole due to Covid-19. The release of one in particular, has stirred high emotions due to the misery he has inflicted on our area. Rather than panic, let us think logically about how we, as residents, can deal with the possible increase in crime.
OUR STRATEGY
Your NHW, Allsound, SAPs and other security partners know exactly where he lives and how he operates. He normally lies low for a short while and then goes on a crime spree with numerous houses in one day. He and his accomplices know the area well and how to avoid cameras. He deliberately sets off numerous alarms to cause confusion, and will always continue until he has obtained easily sellable goods. We know his hiding places, he makes mistakes, and he WILL be caught if he decides to operate in our area.
WHAT CAN YOU DO
As residents, we must make it difficult for ALL criminals. Use your alarms when you are out and use the stay function at night. Keep valuables locked away and do not leave them on show close to windows and doors. Report any suspicious activity to Allsound and look out for your Neighbours.
PATROLLING
We have been given approval by the authorities to patrol again. These are CRIME PATROLS only and are NOT for monitoring any aspect of the COVID-19 regulations. Patrollers must obtain a permit from NHW and there are additional regulations. Please contact Rob Pringle at rob.pringle@mweb.co.za for more information. If we get a large spike in crime we will ask for volunteers to do special patrols.
FISHERHAVEN RESIDENTS
Fisherhaven is a crime hot spot at present. There are 65 properties and only 8 NHW members. Please try and encourage your neighbours to join.
