Patrolling

The HRF NHW has a strategy to keep crime to a minimum. This strategy is based around our CCTV camera network, but also includes communication and vigilance from our residents and regular patrols.
When the crime is low, as it is now, it is always difficult to motivate residents to patrol. However, we have a group of loyal patrollers who are willing to give up their time to help ensure all our residents are safe. SAPs and all the security companies are very appreciative of this effort and constantly remind us of the benefits.
If you would like to patrol, please contact Rob Pringle at rob.pringle@mweb.co.za. Below is the brief we give to our patrollers.
HRF NHW PATROLLERS BRIEF
Thank you for volunteering to Patrol. Here are a few guidelines to help keep the neighbourhood and yourselves SAFE.
- Patrol starts at Knysna Private Hospital. Just inform reception and they will hand you the HRF patrollers bag. The bag contents will contain:
- Decal magnetic signs for your car.
- A torch – which invariably needs recharging so best to bring your own.
- Pepper Spray
- Signing in and reporting book.
- Sign on, leave the book at reception and begin your patrol.
- Areas to be covered are Fisherhaven, Hunters Home and Rexford. Known criminals enter and exit our area via the ends of Wilson, Fraser, Howard, Thesen and Lindsay. Also end of Barracuda, Galjoen and Springer Street in Fisherhaven. Please make sure you cover these hotspots.
- The idea is to MONITOR only. If you see something suspicious report immediately to AllSOUND on 0443825589.
- DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH ANY SUSPICIOUS PERSON. YOUR SAFETY IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE.
- Patrol the area at random. Park up for a while if required. Keep your doors locked. It is not dangerous to patrol. Just use common sense and be cautious.
- At the end of your patrol return the bag to the Private Hospital and sign off.
Thank you for volunteering and keep safe.
